With due respect to the sincerity of the author of the article on Ramakrshna, may I suggest he/she should provide sources for the various conclusions made on the saint's state of samadhi. May I also suggest that Sil's article in Religion, 39 (2009) titled "Kali's Child Krishna's Lover: An Anatomy of Ramakrishna's Caritas Divina" and Sil's monograph titled Crazy in Love of God: Ramakrishna's Caritas Divina (2009)be consulted.

Sudhir Kakar has not been able to use the Kathamrita or the Lilaprasanga, the two most important sources in their original Bengali due to his lack of familiarity with this language. The author should also read Kakar's Inner World (1978). Kakar has changed his position on Ramakrishna's samadhi following his stint as a Visiting Faculty at Chicago and subsequently his acquaintance with Dr. Kripal's doctoral thesis supervisor Professor Doniger and his collaboration with a French mysticism scholar Catherine Clement. His obiter dicta on my work has been touted by several critics who themselves haven't read the sources on the saint in Bengali. So far nobody has been able to point out Sil's lacuna in handling the sources or his manipulation of the sources by mistranslating them. My suggestion is the present aritcle on Ramakrishna need to be revised, refined, and enriched with more sources--both primary and secondary.
