A pair of sandhill cranes have been bringing their two little chicks to our wooded backyard for several weeks. Tragically the two little ones fell into our neighbors pond where my husband found the drowned. It was devastating to witness and continues to be as we watch the pair return repeately to the site. They have been spending their days right beside the pond. At least they have each other! It is mid June, will they have another go at it and lay a second set of eggs or will they grieve throughout the coming months?
