A great, great uncle of mine, James Sweeney, was killed in the battle at Gettysburg during the Civil War. I'm aware there is a James Sweeney burial site at Gettysburg, but how can I find out if it is my great, great uncle.

He was born in Fanad,(possibly Doaghbeg town) a town outside of Donegal, Ireland. He was probably 21 years old when he was killed, however, I'm not sure of the year. I believe he may have resided in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania prior to his joining the Army.

His parents names are Morgan Sweeny and Kate Moore (possibly Mary Catherine Moore). However it is my understanding when James came to the states, the last name was spelled Sweeney. That may or may not be correct.

James was single.

I realize that is little to go on, but that is all of the information I have on him.

Thank you in advance for any information that would enlighten my search.
