A Gender-Neutral Novel

One of the most interesting (and successful) attempts I've seen at writing a gender-less novel is ANDROGYNOUS MURDER HOUSE PARTY, by Steven Rigolosi. There is a cast of 6, all with androgynous names; and we never know whether they are male or female. (The characters are Lee, Chris, J, Law, Terry, and Alex; the narrator is Robin Anders.) This is a mystery novel and a traditional whodunnit, and it's fun from that perspective--but more interesting is the way the author writers around every character's gender. I recommend this, not only because it's a fun read but also because it shows that gender-neutral writing CAN be accomplished.
