I served 28 months in Augsburg in the above units. We went to the field in Graf approximately 9 months out of the year. We trained hard and and lived hard in the field. We got no passes and could not go to any clubs on post and that included Officers,NCOs and Enlisted. We watched movies and drank beer in the mess tent and lived in tents about 2 miles from the main post. We could only go to and from the PX in formation.We were being punished for our first trip to Graf because we put 22 legs in the hospital including a 2nd Lt.
We were the best firing Btry in Europe for 3 years.(100% in the Box).You can't imagine what they could do to the in that era.We ate it up because we were Airborne all the way and could take anything they could put out. Most of our NCOS were combat vetrans that you could walk the river with because you could respect them.We had very few losers in the noncom ranks.
