Hi,
I just needed to post this on the net somewhere to help
fellow people with there Holden Barina, 1996 1.4lt
I have spent a large some of money and many sleepless nights trying to fix my Barina. It seems to stall when it gets hot. Trying to start it again took a well and when it kicked over it was running on 2 pistons.
I took it to a auto electician who had it for 3 days
and could not find the problem.... he said he could not read the computer so could not give me a answer $180 for
nothing.
I went out and paid $70 for a second hand computer from the wreckers. New they are $700 . I put this in myself
(very simple) and it did not fix the problem. It was still stalling when hot.

THE SOLUTION!!!.
After speaking to a few people they suggested to chek the distrubitor not just the cap but the whole thing.
Apparently inside the thing are coils which when hot breaks down. I went to the wrecker and paid $60 for a second hand one. With a bit of advice I just changed it and the car appears to be working.

So firstly if your barina is stalling when it get hot
PLease do not paid for a new part just get one second hand.
Before you spend a small furtune. The car is just too old
to spend big money
The parts I replaced:
Spark plugs
Leads
Distrubitor cap
Computer
Trip to the auto electrican

Total cost $350 with no result

$60 and 20min of my time FIX!!!
