The constellation Scutum (pronouced skoo' tum) is the 84th largest constellation in the night sky with an area of 109 square degrees. The name of Scutum means Shield.

Location:
Scutum is located at RA 18.7 h and Declination -10°. Scutum is best seen between latitudes +80° and -90° in the August. Scutum is adjacent to the following constellations: Aquila, Sagittarius, Serpens Cauda.
