Overview:
Sagittarius (pronouced sa ji tare' ee us) is the 15th largest constellation in the night sky with an area of 867 square degrees. The name of Sagittarius means Archer.

Location:
Sagittarius is located at Right Ascension 19 h and Declination -25°. Sagittarius is best seen between the latitudes +55° and -90° in the August. Sagittarius is bordered by the following constellations: Aquila, Capricornus, Corona Australis, Indus, Microscopium, Ophiuchus, Scorpius, Scutum, Serpens Cauda, Telescopium.

Stars:
Sagittarius contains within its borders about 65 visible stars. The principal star of Sagittarius is Rubkat. The brightest star is Ross 154 (9.68 ly). This constellation also contains within its boundries the following notable stars: Arkab, Ascella, Kaus Australis, Kaus Borealis, Kaus Media, Nasl, Nunki, Rukbat.
