Pyxis (pronouced pik' siss) is the 65th largest constellation in the night sky with
an area of 221 square degrees. The name of this constellation means Compass.
Location:
Pyxis is located at RA 9 h and Declination -30°.
It is best seen between the latitudes +50° and -90° in the month of March.
Pyxis is adjacent to the following constellations: Antlia,
Hydra,
Puppis,
Vela.

Pyxis contains within its borders approximately 12 visible stars. The principal star of Pyxis is Alpha Pyx. The brightest star is HD 72673 (39.7 ly).
