Overview:
Pyxis (pronouced pik' siss) is the 65th largest constellation in the night sky with an area of 221 square degrees. The name of this constellation means Compass.

Location:
Pyxis is located at RA 9 h and Declination -30°. It is best seen between the latitudes +50° and -90° in the month of March. Pyxis is adjacent to the following constellations: Antlia, Hydra, Puppis, Vela.

Stars:
Pyxis contains within its borders approximately 12 visible stars. The principal star of Pyxis is Alpha Pyx. The brightest star is HD 72673 (39.7 ly). Pyxis also contains within its boundries the following notable stars: Alpha Pyx.
