Octans (pronouced ok' tans) is the 50th largest constellation in the night sky with an area of 291 square degrees. The name of Octans means Octant.

Location:
Octans is located at RA 22 h and Declination -90°. It is best seen between the latitudes +0° and -90° in the month of October. Octans is bordered by the following constellations: Apus, Chamaeleon, Hydrus, Indus, Mensa, Pavo, Tucana.
