Overview:
The constellation Hydrus (pronouced hi 'druss) is the 61st most volumous constellation in the night sky with an area of 243 square degrees. The name of this constellation means Water Snake.

Location:
Hydrus is located at RA 0h 05m - 4h 40m and Declination -58° - -82°. It is best seen between the latitudes +8° and -90° in the November. Hydrus is bordered by the following constellations: Dorado, Eridanus, Horologium, Mensa, Octans, Phoenix, Reticulum, Tucana.

Stars:
Hydrus contains within its borders approximately 14 visible stars. The principal star of Hydrus is Alpha Hyi. The brightest of Hydrus's stars is beta Hyi (24.37 ly). Hydrus also contains within its boundries the following noteworthy stars: Alpha Hyi.
