Overview:
Hercules (pronouced her' cue leez) is the 5th largest constellation in the night sky with an area of 1225 square degrees. The name of Hercules means Hero.

Location:
Hercules is located at Right Ascension 17 h and Declination +30°. Hercules is best seen between the latitudes +90° and -50° in the month of July. Hercules is adjacent to the following constellations: Aquila, Bootes, Corona Borealis, Draco, Lyra, Ophiuchus, Sagitta, Serpens Caput, Vulpecula.

Stars:
Hercules contains within its borders approximately 85 visible stars. The principal star of Hercules is Ras Algethi. The brightest star is µ Her (27.4 ly). This constellation also contains within its boundries the following notable stars: Cujam, Kornephoros, Maasym, Rasalgethi, Sarin.
