Description

Overview:
Cygnus (pronouced sig' nus) is the 16th most volumous constellation in the night sky with an area of 804 square degrees. The name of Cygnus means Swan.

Location:
Cygnus is located at RA 20.6 h and Declination +42.03°. Cygnus is best seen between latitudes +90° and -40° in the September. Cygnus is bordered by the following constellations: Cepheus, Draco, Lacerta, Lyra, Pegasus, Vulpecula.

Stars:
Cygnus contains within its borders about 79 visible stars. The principal star of Cygnus is Deneb. The brightest of Cygnus's stars is 61 Cyg (11.4 ly). This constellation also contains within its boundries the following noteworthy stars: Albireo, Deneb, Sadr.
