Overview:
Carina (pronouced kay ree' nuh) is the 34th largest constellation in the night sky with an area of 494 square degrees. The name of Carina means Keel.

Location:
Carina is located at Right Ascension 9 h and Declination -60°. It is best seen between latitudes +20° and -90° in the March. Carina is bordered by the following constellations: Centaurus, Chamaeleon, Musca, Pictor, Puppis, Vela, Volans.

Stars:
Carina contains within its borders about 77 visible stars. The principal star of Carina is Canopus. The brightest star is I Car (52.9 ly). Carina also contains within its boundries the following notable stars: Aspidiske, Avior, Canopus, Miaplacidus, Scutulum.
