Overview:
Canes Venatici (pronouced kay' neez ven ah tee' see) is the 38th most volumous constellation in the night sky with an area of 465 square degrees. The name of Canes Venatici means Hunting Dogs.

Location:
Canes Venatici is located at Right Ascension 13 h and Declination +40°. Canes Venatici is best seen between the latitudes +90° and -40° in the May. Canes Venatici is bordered by the following constellations: Bootes, Coma Berenices, Ursa Major.

Stars:
Canes Venatici contains within its borders about 15 visible stars. The principal star of Canes Venatici is Cor Caroli. The brightest of Canes Venatici's stars is ß CVn (27.4 ly). Canes Venatici also contains within its boundries the following noteworthy stars: Chara, Cor Caroli.
