Ara (pronouced air' uh) is the 63rd largest constellation in the night sky with an area of 237 square degrees. The name of Ara means Altar.

Location:
Ara is located at RA 17.39 h and Declination -53.58°. It is best seen between latitudes +25° and -90° in the July. Ara is adjacent to the following constellations: Apus, Corona Australis, Norma, Pavo, Scorpius, Telescopium, Triangulum Australe.
