Even if we do NOT find life in our solar system outside of Earth, (and that is a distinct possibility) that doesnt in any way disprove the existence of life beyond our planet. While bacteria can thrive in environments that would kill most complex lifeforms, they didnt spontaneously appear there, they adapted over time, as most things do.
Life may have existed on Mars a billion years ago, but died out as it was unable to adapt to the near total lack of an atmosphere. Finding life or evidence of life having existed off-plaent will simply be proof that it is alot more common then we can show today.
